BROWN is the dirt - the ruthless world of slavery that trashes life. RED screams urgency.
Here’s the longer version.
A few years ago in Greece, I met a teenage girl named (let’s say) Eva. She had recently been taken from Nigeria, told the “There are Riches in Europe” lie, brought into Greece, and forced into prostitution. Just 7 days in Greece, she had not yet plied her new trade. I don’t know what happened to Eva.
I do know that I work with some amazing people in Athens who befriend women and men like Eva. They show them incredible compassion, pamper them and paint their nails at parties thrown in their honor, share hope with them, help them with basic life skills, love them like they were best friends, and…when they’re ready, help them escape.

I recruit people to work around the world with refugees and victims of human trafficking. Some amazing stories are coming out of these places - stories of devastation…and, sometimes, of hope. In Redbrown I will share stories, as well as things being done to fight human trafficking and some amazing people doing that work.
Red is the color of
- emergency…urgency
- flashing red lights: fire trucks, ambulances
- blood - our life is in our blood
- red lights; red light district
Brown is the color of
- the earth…the soil
- dirt - “he was dragged through the dirt”
- drab - it’s not very appealing; I know only 1 person whose favorite color is brown.

brown mud
Life is really hard - it absolutely sucks - and it’s really dirty…for the millions of people enslaved globally (as high as 27 million). They’re not easily understood; heck, where are they?! They’re quickly written off. Many have no home - no home country even, no home at night.
Redbrown starts with the reality of this oppression that many trafficking victims live every day (brown); then it calls for an urgent response (red).
Redbrown may become a way for you to learn more about and care for oppressed people around the world. I hope it does!
